PHILOSOPHY OF CARE
"The physician-patient relationship is sacred, and I take the trust my patients place in me very seriously. Given the complex ways gastrointestinal disorders can affect an individual and cause suffering, physician-patient communication takes on greater relevance in this particular medical specialty. My goal is to first listen to my patients' concerns respectfully and empathetically. Next, with the patient as my equal partner, I aim to thoughtfully formulate a plan of action uniquely suited to my patients. Herein lies the art of medicine, which I find to be meaningful and fulfilling." -- Shashank Sarvepalli, MD
